The Great Feast of the Transfiguration

St. John the Baptist celebrates the Feast of the Transfiguration

The community of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church gathered to celebrate the Great Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord. Father Silouan reminded us all of what it means to be Transfigured vs. being Transformed. Our Lord was Transfigured, revealing his every present and glorious energy, but we are called to be Transformed so that we can behold that glory and shine with it ourselves. We need to live our lives like Jesus, using the tools of the Church - the sacraments - to do so. Following services Father blessed fresh fruit as is tradition.

Troparion
You were transfigured on the mountain, O Christ God, revealing Your glory to Your disciples as far as they could bear it. Let Your everlasting Light also shine upon us sinners, through the prayers of the Theotokos. O Giver of Light, glory to You!
