The Parish begins its Lenten Journey - 03/21/2021
The first week of the Great Fast was engaged by the community of St. John' the Baptist Orthodox Church in full force. Fr. Silouan led the parish in the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete for the first four days of Clean Week, and the community capped off the week celebrating a Presanctified Liturgy on Friday evening in honor of St. Theodore the Recruit. The liturgy was followed by a Memorial Litya for all the departed of the parish and the serving of koliva.
Sunday, March 21 brought a beautiful spring morning. Father Silouan led the parish in celebrating the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great immediately followed by the procession of icons around the outside of the temple, recreating the first Triumph of Orthodoxy procession in the 9th Century. Following dismissal, a light lenten meal was served in Repella Hall with Orthodox Fellowship.
